About

We are Creative Professionals

John Gregoras started his company in 1989 after working in the fur business, where he learned to match different shades of color on mink pelts.  He quickly realized that he had an eye for detail when helping his father on weekend wallpaper installs.  His father encouraged John to attend the U.S. School of Professional Paper Hanging located in Rutland, Vermont.  “Everyone thinks that paper hanging is a skill you can just pick up by doing it a few times, but in all honesty, it is a learned trade that can take years to master. There is definitely a difference between the average tradesman and a true craftsman”.

Where We Started

John first worked doing commercial wallcovering installations in high profile buildings and lobbies in Manhattan, including Central Park South, the Crown Building, across from Trump Tower and the Corinthian by the Midtown Tunnel.  Eventually, he wanted to do more finesse work with high end finishes and found his niche working with fine silks and fabrics in the high-end designer residential market.  Gregoras got involved with “3-4 coat paint finishes” using specialty products such as Fine Paints of Europe and Benjamin Moore Aura.  John decided he could move his business to Westchester County, and in doing so he expanded his service area north of the city, creating a broader canvas to continue his passion!

We Are Trusted Professionals

After thirty years of dedicated work, John Gregoras Paper Hanging & Painting has earned the respect of many designers and high profile customers in New York City, Westchester and Connecticut.  He can count among projects where he has installed and/or painted, Barbara Walters, Joan Rivers, Martha Stewart and James Patterson to name a few.  John had the honor of being profiled as a premiere paper hanger in “This Old House” and “Connecticut Cottages and Gardens” magazines.  By following thorough project management, surface preparation, and paint and wallpaper application processes, Gregoras is able to ensure fabulous results. The company is Lead Safe Certified  and will complete the Fine Paints of Europe Master Certified Painter Designation in the Fall of 2019.

Quality & Professionalism

The company is founded on first quality and professionalism with emphasis on excellent customer service and quality craftsmanship.   John exclaims, “I put my name on my work and I am proud to stand behind it 100%, every time!”  This affords the company an extensive repeat client base.

Creativity & Enjoyment

When he’s not running a crew, picking up a paintbrush or installing fabric, John very much enjoys picking up his guitar, spending a day in the woods or fishing on his boat.  Something no one knows about John is that he loves to cook, especially BBQ!  At any given time, you can find John with his family in the back yard grilling something and enjoying family time together!
